US Army Developmental Test Command (DTC)
Who We Are

DTC's logo - Test for the Best!ABOUT THE DTC INSIGNIA

The DTC Distinctive Unit Insignia focuses on the Army's performance of test and evaluation functions. The basic design, a circle sectioned, reflects the unity of the concepts originally devised for test and evaluation performance.

Ultramarine and scarlet colors represent the military and industrial participants. On the bisected field of red and blue, a futuristic gold star represents the headquarters. The modified "star burst" of gold streamers suggests the flow of information and guidance and the spatial relationships of the subordinate installations and field operating activities.

The modified diamond-shaped figure at the top center is provided a superior position to indicate the importance of command and control of the diverse mission elements. The spearhead's thrust also suggests the strength and commitment of the command to the performance of the multifaceted mission.

The alternating red and blue, separated by the white area's piercing thrust, represents the essential sources of the command's mission, that is, civilian industry and the military clientele. The stark white projection also suggests a military fortification or bastion and is a feature shared with the Army Materiel Command crest.

The motto, "Test for the Best," in gold, is superimposed on the sable belt surrounding the device. The belt continues the theme of unity and strength; but also emphasizes the important interaction of the many performers in the mission who must, by working together, perform to meet the motto's objectives.
